What We're Doing

Now in our fifteenth season, Clear Brook Farm grows over twenty acres of organic produce and has approximately one half acre of greenhouses used in the production of bedding plants, organic tomatoes, raspberries, and field starts for the farm. We also grow eight to ten acres of oil crops for bio-diesel production each year. Last year, we planted a half acre of fall bearing raspberries and this year we are poised to plant an acre of blueberries! Also, we will be completing a new plant sale greenhouse and display area this spring. This new plant sales area will greatly enhance the nursery operation of Clear Brook Farm, offering greater aisle space for customers and, equally important, a warm place from which to purchase plants on those all too frequent cool Vermont spring days.

Plans for the 2009 Season

First, Clear Brook Farm is committed to going beyond selling great greens to "going green" in a significant way. This season, the farm will be focusing on energy efficiency in all areas of the operation and using renewable fuels for the greenhouses. Second, thanks to a very successful first Winter Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) program in 2008, Clear Brook Farm plans on offering 175-200 shares for 2009! The Winter CSA starts in mid-October and runs through December. As part of the Clear Brook Farm Winter CSA, each share receives a huge selection of our own organic, winter hardy, fall greens and storage crops, and, for those choosing the "Localvore" option, other locally produced agricultural products. Sign up for the Winter CSA begins in mid-summer.
